The Death of the Confirmation Process

The Brown Jackson confirmation hearings continued a long trend towards superficiality and jingoism . . . . Nominees have long been prepped to refuse to answer substantive questions and evade direct responses on judicial philosophy. . .  [I]t is clear now that our confirmation process is a scripted and shallow exercise for all parties.
